Fipresci na festivalu Tromsö

Na norveškem filmskem festivalu Tromsö je slovensko sekcijo Mednarodnega združenja filmskih kritikov in publicistov FIPRESCI tokrat zastopal filmski kritik in programski vodja festivala Liffe, Simon Popek. Z žirijo, v kateri sta zasedala še Fernando Salvá in Peter Stuart Robinson, so nagrado podelili kanadskemu filmu Riceboy Sleeps režiserja Anthonyja Shima.

“With sensitivity and tenderness, our winning film employs a story of mother and child to depict how immigrants find their way in a new country. It displays grace and assurance in the balance it strikes between the bright and the dark, showing us the small victories, as well as the humiliations that the struggle for acceptance and respect can entail. And, in the process, it remains personal, and true, and impressive in the way it avoids manipulation and sentimentality, while subtly expressing the emotions its characters hold in check,” so zapisali v utemeljitvi.
